Music
Our Music curriculum is designed with the following aims in mind:
Intent:
Children will be able to confident to experiment with untuned instruments.
All children will be able to play a tuned instrument.
Children will be able to listen to and describe a variety of different styles of music, both live and recorded, discussing the composers who wrote them and where in history they appear.
Children enjoy singing and are able to sing in tune with accuracy.
Children enjoy being creative with music and enjoy improvising and composing using a given stimulus.
They will enjoy performing their music to an audience.
Implementation:
Children will be given the chance to listen to a variety of music in music assemblies and also in class music lessons. They are encouraged to respond using musical vocabulary to all music they hear.
Children will be given the opportunity to perform their music in assembly.
Following the Charanga music scheme allows children the opportunity to improvise and compose, his will include using symbols, notation, voices and untuned instruments.
They will all have the opportunity to play the glockenspiel, recorder and ukulele throughout their time at the school.
Singing is done weekly in music assembly and in music lessons. Children will be given the opportunity to practise their singing skills.
Impact:
Clear progression in music skills in performing, composing, improvising, playing instruments, notation, singing, listening and musicianship.
Musical performances recorded and performed to show all children what good music should look and sound like.
Children feeling more confident to experiment with music and singing.
Increasing skills in playing a tuned musical instrument.
A wider understanding and appreciation of all types and genres of music throughout history.
