Art

Our Art curriculum is designed with the following aims in mind:

Intent:

• Children will be confident in using a range of media to create effective pieces of artwork.

•  Children become increasingly creative and willing to experiment different techniques and materials; including drawing, painting and sculpture

• They are confident in evaluating the art of others, forming opinions which they can explain

• They will be aware of a range of famous artists and designers, both historical and contemporary

Implementation:

• Children will be taught a range of artistic techniques and given the chance to practice and refine these skills with a range of stimuli

• Their artwork will be for a clear purpose

• They will review their work, giving and receiving feedback on their finished pieces

•  They will be inspired by famous pieces of art and design, learning about the artist or designer, then creating their own version

Impact

•  Displays of finished work, displayed for others to evaluate

• Clear progress in artistic skills including; drawing, painting and sculpture

•  Increasingly effective use of colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space
